Holy Easter

The holy week is a very important religious event for people living in Pozzallo.

In the Easter day, the image of Our Lady is brought in procession to the main street of the town. When it is possible to see the statue of the Christ risen by far, the meeting of the two statues is planned during the procession.

This event has known as "Maronna Vasa Vasa" – “vasa” is a dialectal word meaning “to kiss” – because, at the moment of the meeting, the two statues get closer for a kiss.
