Andrea Camilleri, author of Commissioner Salvo Montalbano, played in Luca Zingaretti's narrative, staged his stories in an imaginary world, the result of the union of the most important corners of localities such as Porto Empedocle, Sciacca, Menfi and other towns of Agrigento.
The places of the literary work (Vigata, Marinella, Montelusa, Mannara) were recreated by director Alberto Sironi and the stage designer Luciano Ricceri mostly in the province of Ragusa. Other scenes were also roaming in San Vito Lo Capo (TP), Tindari (ME), Favignana and Siracusa.
Much of the fictional set of fiction linked to Commissioner Montalbano is in the province of Ragusa, although the descriptions of the places recounted in the literary fiction by Andrea Camilleri are those related to what they were in his childhood in the province of Agrigento.
For example the Fiacca is Sciacca, Fela is Gela, Vigata (in the province of Montelusa or Agrigento) is actually Porto Empedocle, and recalls in the sound Licata hometown of Andrea Camilleri.
Places today have become too different from how they are illustrated in the books, so they preferred to shoot the movies elsewhere.
